New iPod Games: Sonic The Hedgehog, Bomberman, Peggle

Three great new games landed on the iPod today. Well. Not entirely new games: Peggle is one, and it's new. But the other two, the old-school Sega classic Sonic the Hedgehog (debut: 1991) and the even older originally Euro / Japanese title Bomberman (debut: 1983), are new...for the iPod...but full of old-school gaming goodness, and no mistake.

iPod Game Review: Phase

As we reported last month, Harmonix (the folks behind the popular Guitar Hero game franchise) released a new musical iPod game: Phase. Basically a colorful, little version of Guitar Hero that fits nicely in your hip pocket, Phase looked to be one of the more engaging game offerings available for Apple's digital music player. As Macworld's recent review of the game indicates, Phase delivers.

Phase: A New Game For iPod

Along with the recent introduction of iTunes 7.5, Apple has added another iPod game to the library. Phase [iTunes link], by the makers of the rather popular Guitar Hero series, is an interactive game that can be played while listening to songs from your iTunes library. The gameplay involves spinning the click wheel in time with the rhythm of the currently playing song in order to catch falling music notes. It's basically rather similar to Guitar Hero, actually.

iPhone / iPod touch Firmware 1.1.2 Released

iTunes does not yet automatically bring this to your attention (we're expecting that in the next few hours). What this upggrade does bring, however, is the following:

mStation Orb 2.1 Stereo iPod Speaker Review

Ok, first of all, just by the design of the Orb, you have to know that it's not a speaker for an audiophile. I'm not saying that round brightly colored speakers can't sound fantastic, I'm just saying that the Orb sounds ok. Not great, not crappy, just ok. It has good volume and the treble / bass adjustability is helpful. But the mStation Orb won't win any awards for high fidelity and tweens, teens and people that like their speakers without sharp edges won't mind.

Add/Edit Functionality Coming To iPod Touch Calendar App?

As MacRumors reports, it seems that the inability for iPod touch users to add and edit Calendar entries - a capability iPhone users have been enjoying, is about to be remedied.

WaterField Designs Brings Cases For New iPods

WaterField Designs has announced three new cases to match the newly introduced iPods: the Smart Case, the Travel Case and the Suede Jacket. Each of these new cases are custom-fitted for the iPod Touch, Classic and Nano. These cases were designed for protection and accessibility while keeping the look stylish and compact.

New iPods Feature Component Video Output

The 3G iPod nano and the iPod classic support 480p or 576p video output while the iPod touch supports 480i or 576i output. That's right - the nano and classic trump the touch when it comes to home theater integration.
